ISBN 0-9530586-0-3 Price £20.00 p&p see above
Publishers comment
A book that reviews the development of modern management thinking in the light of co-operative movement development and the adoption of the ICA identity statement in 1995. The books authors suggest that modern value based management and co-operative values are in convergence and develop seven principles of Co-operative Management that they claim can assist managers in co-operatives to introduce modern management methodologies whilst remaining true to the aspirations contained in the ICA Identity Statement. The ideas presented by Davis and Donaldson have given rise to two commissions by the ILO Co-operative Branch (1999 and 2004) for Davis to write two further works developing the analysis and application of the principles of co-operative value based management. See on our Home page the link to Peter Davis for a summary of the key ideas.

Lazell, David, A“Sociable” History. Stanford Hall and the Co-operative College, New Harmony Press, Cheltenham, 2001, pp131
ISBN0-9530586-1-1 £15.00 p&p see above
Publishers comment
This book, written by a former Co-operative College lecturer and longstanding commentator on co-operative education, is full of analysis and anecdote on one of the seminal periods in the history of British co-operative education. Many managers, civil servants, and co-operative college heads from colleges that emulated Stanford Hall in the British Commonwealth of Nations passed through the doors of the Co-operative College at Stanford Hall. They form a global co-operative college student alumni that continues to play an important role in many parts of the co-operative movement long after the sad closure of the college. Many reading this book will find references which will rekindle fond memories of what was an exciting educational and cultural centre for the international co-operative movement for over half a century.
